Phew!!! Arrived in Krabi in one piece after a few minutes of nerve-wracking questioning by the passport control officer on the border of Malaysia/Thailand. I think he just stamped my passport because he couldn't be arsed with the hassle at 7am.
Decided that Krabi is my favourite place ever so far. The poor minibus driver, how had just driven 7hrs straight to get us there, insisted he'd drop me off at the hostel but didn't have a clue where it was so just dropped me off on the road it was on (about 3miles long). I have barely tottered 2 steps when an elderly Thai man offered to help me to find the hostel. He phoned the reception and got me exact directions before handing me a map of krabi town. Bloody legend. The hostel was called Pak-up and was bloody lovely. Clean, friendly and with all the necessities for just £3 a night.
Day2 of Krabi meant good weather. I'm talking about proper sun, something I had not seen in about a week. Stupid freaky weather. Me, 3 English girls and a Dutchman went to Railey island for a chill out via local longboat. It was amazing. Beautiful green cliffs rising up from the crystal clear water with white sandy beaches (I should work for a brochure company). It was paradise and I could have stayed there all day plus 3 more. I was recommended not to do rock climbing, something Railey is famous for, due to the stitches still being quite new even though they look fine to me now. Came back in time to watch the man u beat Liverpool 1-0. Overall a good day. Even got a bit of a tan!
Day 3 in Krabi and we booked a tour around tiger temple, hot springs and the emerald lagoon. It was quite expensive but we still managed to get it down to 850baht from 1200. Takes the hassle out of doing it ourselves. The tiger temple was based on the highest peak in the Krabi district and was originally guarded by tigers (hence the name but not anymore unfortunately). You could only get to the temple by foot. 1237 of the steepest steps known to mankind to be exact. I almost had a stroke climbing up there but the view was completely worth it and the giant golden buddha was beautiful. The hot springs were...well...hot! The closest thing I've come to a bath since I got here and it was so relaxing after my stair mountain climb. Ate too much for lunch as usual and then to the emerald lagoon were we could have a good swim and giggles with the underwater camera one of the girls brought with her. Was eaten alive by the damn mozzys but o well, had an awesome day.
