Wow. Really mixed up here but the advantages are good this am. I am in Port Douglas Australia. Yes another continent after the am in Samoa.
I ended up touring Stevenson residence yesterday am. A lovely peaceful simple location being maintained by an British businessman. Very simple and the lush tropical plants of course plentiful. ESP enjoyed Margaret a lovely beautiful young woman our tour guide who demonstrated the values , charm an genuine kindness of Samoan people. My decision to take this tour was to have the opportunity to see more of the island. There are many any school children and they were on their way to school. All children wear uniforms and each village chooses their own color and style. The colrs were all bright and the oranges, maroons pinks greens were fun to watch in the one hr travel enroute. On the return we wentbthru downtown Apia and saw market, banks etc. both directions showed the many churches . 99.9 % active in church. The falfal is their open home with a community one or gatherings in center of semicircle of homes.
Spoke with sue e a local woman making mats whichntheybsleep on, cover floors etc. she made me a book ark for which I got called on by Aussie security for bringing a plant part in
The flight was of course excellent. Time goes fast whe you can listen to r Siegel speak about. " what's wring in Washington. , the cook explain how he rents a kitchen and orders foods 2 months in advance in each town where we land. We got the last potatoes in Samoa. Have enjoyed o many new foods and fresh fruits enjoyed in particular.
The flight got o focus here. Saw Tahiti and Fiji as well as Great Barrier Reef closely by air as pilot is able to get permission for diversions. Amazing all the brilliant turquoise water and coral reefs.
My seat mate Mardi who, lives in a houseboat in Seattle is lovely. She reminds me of Ruth very much the way she makes smart comments and observations very quietly. she fell at the Mayan ruins and is still sore. We have a strategy for continuing to have seats next to each other. One woman is returning home due to her spouse is ill. Really though at this point everyone's personalities are coming thru and this is fun. I am goin to send on a blog adress for pics by other travelers. Photography class before another long trip. I was used by bob Krist. Ng photographer as to what not to do in his presentation. He is a hoot!
Today I have made the very difficult decision to go to the Daintree rainforest vs the Great Barrier Reef . I will tour with natives who are working on maintaining endangered plants and visit the rain tree habitat where endangered animals are cared for. A local couple will make lunch at their home.
There is more humidity here than I ever experienced. Will be a long hot day of touring. To night in to port Douglas at a restaurant new friend Pam and I chose out of 3. First non buffet meal. Last night there were some funny bugs on the light buffet .. Like we have seen
