Hi everyone! Thanks for your birthday messages, had a great one in the Red Centre - got to watch the sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta (like Uluru, but more rocks) on my b'day morning, after having 'swagged' it under the stars - pretty cool :) got a signed 'Happy B'day' song from the group back at camp, they only had 5 mins to learn it while i had popped off to the bathroom, so they could surprise me...was sweet, but it was also a laugh to watch! (Thanks, Jess! :) ) Have been in Melbourne for the past few days, it's been really cold compared to the outback, it's like being home again - so the jumper and jeans are finally coming in useful!! Heading up the coast enroute to Sydney tonight, will be stopping at about halfway at Narooma for a couple of days before I get to the city.
Have finally put up some more pics of Borneo and Singapore - hopefully won't be too long before I get some Oz pics sorted!! Enjoy :) K xox

Hi Kaff!
Just been looking at your website, am envious of you. Wish I was out there right now seeing the world, instead am stuck in Sheffield waiting for Uni to start. Different without you girls here and living with all boys, but I'm coping so far!!
Whereabouts are you now? Back in KL or not?
Keeping safe and well I hope.

Lol, Aman!...Am in Kuching in Sarawak at the moment, arrived here yest from KK - and yep, stayed at the NBC, it's brilliant :) spent a couple of lazy mornings in PJs on the sofa watching whatever we could find on the big telly!...with lots of cups of tea of course. Spotted a postcard on their noticeboard from the '2006 GAPpers' and thought I'd ask if one of them had been you - you'd be pleased to hear that they remembered you and found a few of yours and Kirsty's entries in the guestbook :) Had a mad time in Sabah with the mountain, jungle safari (we didn't manage to get to Uncle Tan's - but got ourselves to Sukau instead) and diving at Semporna...can see why you loved it there! For everyone wondering what's next...heading to Singapore tmw for a couple of days, before I head over to Oz, the land of 'stubbies' and 'bottle shops', a great invention if there was one - don't know how they get away with it... Better sign off now and find some din-dins, Kath xox

*scrreaammss* You're in Borneo? As soon as I heard, I felt a rush inside me as I was in Sabah for 6 months *memorable sigh*. The youth hostel you're staying in is either North Borneo Cabin or Akinabalu? Impressive huh? They are probably the best youth hostels I've come across in South-East Asia. I climbed the mighty Mountain Kinabalu in May, seems so long ago! You felt like a plane crashed your bed the morning after you conquered the mountain? Tell tell tell . If you've got time, do Uncle Tan's jungle wildlife camp. Had to walk to the camp base in deep mud, great experience though. Check out Little Italy restaurant in Kota Kinabalu, it's round the corner from North Borneo cabin, opposite Wisma Mederka. They do the best dishes, beats other Italian restaurants by miles *smacks lips*. Better stop here before I let rambling get the better of me. Meanwhile, happy trotting x

Hey Kaffs, you look amazing, so bronzed and happy (maybe not at the moment after climbing the mountain!) I wish you all the fun in the world for your trip. Make sure you update your blog regularly, it makes a nice change from reading dreary scientific articles! In fact I wish I could just drop everything and join you. I have just finshed writing a 14,000 transfer report for my PhD and in need of a break. Travel safe darls. Miss Ya Heaps x K x

Hi everyone!
Sitting in a kinda dodgy internet cafe, with an equally dodgy connection with two other guys who were up the mountain with me...we came down a couple of days ago, and our legs are absolutely knackered! still groaning every time we encounter a flight of steps!! the climb took two days, going up 6km on the first day then getting up at 2am the following morning to get to the top in time for the sunrise - which was absolutely amazing, especially after 2 hours of continously trudging up on huge slabs of granite - it gives you a real sense of achievement! will tell you more in detail soon, have to go now to hopefully see to orangutans - keep the messages coming, good to hear from home :) love k xox
