Hello peeps! Have finally set off on my own world tour, or more specifically, the southern hemisphere after 4 years of trying not to fall asleep at lectures!...now its my turn to rub it in with all those pics of sun, sea, and sand :). First, it'll be to Thailand and Malaysia with Jo (my sis, for those not in the know!) on her annual escape from the perils of teaching primary school kids! Then it's to Australia, Fiji and New Zealand, before heading over to South America in the new year...can't wait! I'll try my best to keep this updated with news and pics whenever I can...don't have any excuse now! And feel free to keep me up to date with the gossip from home! Love, K xo

Bladdy 'ell it's cold here!!! Yes, that's right....I'm back in good ol' Blighty :) Landed in London from Rio yesterday morning, with Jacs still winging her way home via Madrid. Apparently, I picked a good morning to arrive, it being one of the coldest of the year so far...it was funny seeing everyone walking around wrapped up in everything they could find, while I walking through with just a light jumper for an extra layer and flip-flops! Was suprisingly fine...must've still been feeling warm after Brazil! Anyhoo, will be hanging around in Cambridge and London for a few days before I head back home to Belfast....so if anyone's about, it'd be good to meet up and catch up! :) Many apologies for the lack of postcards, but was thinking, now that I have some time on my hands, I'll try to write up about it all and put it on here...so those with 10,000 word essays will still have an excuse for some distraction!! (i.e. Emlyn). But thanks to everyone for putting up notes and just checking out the website...have had the most amazing time over the last 7 months, and am sure it won't be the last :) hope to see you all soon, k xoxo

Mes darlings!!! South America looking fabulous as always, glad Jacki has finally got out there and see the beauty of SA. Looking forward to your tales when you return, I know this is a dreaded question but when you back? Can greet you to miserable Britain with open arms! :P However enjoy the rest of your trip, love u both loads. Happy trotting x P.S. Me best laugh at Jacki's bewildered faces in some of the photos, hehehe.

Brilliant pics! after viewing them all, it seriously stresses me up! u re having the time of ur life with no worries or anything, and having excitement every day with new things to see, new things to do. u've faced many different challenges, activities that are pretty scary, like bungee jump, etc! brilliant! i assume u've been to Iguaza Falls just after Montviedo, then to Brazil, to enjoy the carnivals! isnt it happening right now?? Must be nice to have a deaf company that u know from home, in jacki, where u can share ur experience, etc! where ya heading next after Brazil? Back home, or continuing travelling? u've been TERRIBLE with postcards! i expect with ur rich vocabulary, u would take 10 mins to write up for every country, all the activities u've done, the scary parts, eventful events, etc! LAZY IRISH GIT! :-)U can guess where i am right now, in Adsetts library in Hallam, trying to figure out how to start off my assignment, due next tuesday!! ARGH!!!! Keep safe darls, and hope there'll be many postcards the next time i visit ur website! enjoy the carnival and the hot sun of Brazil! Visit Salvador if u can, up north on the Brazilian coast, u'll see the true colour of Brazil, la Samba! :-)Embles xxxxx
Happy New Year Darlings No one told me that Jacki has b*****ed off out of the country too! Seriously I hope you gals are having a great time, I am so so so jealous. Oh and Kath please write another postcard, just got your one from Singapore at xmas, it's all my "postcards of places to go" wall!! Travel Safe n thinking of u alwaysxKx

Lol, no semki, i´ve just been really lazy with the postcards thus the location hasn´t changed....will change it now. Jacs and I have just been on an overnighter, and have just arrived in San Pedro de Atacema, in the Atacema Desert in northern Chile. Will be here for a few days before crossing the border into Argentina, to Salta...hoping to check out some geysers and hot springs, along with some cool sunsets :). We´ve been in Chile for a week so far, and having a nice time...a lot less jumping off things than in New Zealand!! Spent a few days in Santiago, just looking around the city and checking out the amazing views from the top of hills. Got a few restaurants and bars under our belt too, with the help of some Americans, lovely people. Then we bussed over to Valporaiso, for some sea air and lots of hills...got in an afternoon of wandering around, and an evening of live music before heading up to La Serena the following morning for some beach action - alas no swimming as we weren´t prepared to face the monster waves that were crashing on the shore, we were told to make sure ´we kept in contact with the earth´ by the German owner of our hostel if we wanted to go in the water. It was a pretty town that we stayed in for a couple of days before catching the *woo* luxurious coach (as Semki puts it) up here. Now we´re off to do some exploring, and probably going need to find out where the best bits of shades are!love and hugs, k xoxo

Hi!!
Sorry it's been a while - been keeping myself busy here in New Zealand...In the past week I've rolled down a hill in a giant rubber ball/washing machine, crawled through tight squeezes in pitch dark, negotiated white water rapids, thrown myself out of a plane...and get this, had 3 roast dinners...mmm!! arrived in wellington yesterday, and will be heading across to south island tomorrow - a whole new adventure playground! can't wait...hope all's well back home - got any news or goss for me??:) got to go now, hopefully i'll get some more pics up soon and maybe, embles, even a postcard!! big hugs, kath xox

G'day K! How'dya ya doin'? (am i saying this right??) whereas re ya now?? enjoying the gorgeous Aussie summer on a beach i bet, with a cold carlton draught pint in ur hand! come on, u can have a spare 10 mins to write up a nice postcard, we all deserve something to dream abt, to inspire us to bug off and travel! it's getting real cold here, so so windy these days i feel i could get blown up in the air soon!
ur photos are amazing, it gives me a sick feeling in the stomach, thinking i neeeeeeed to save up as much as i can and start organising something like that! it's been quite a while now since my last one in S.America 2 summers ago, that i am itching to take my dusty backpacker out of the attic and fly off somewhere!
Sheffield's great, but missin u heaps, especially Jessica who often goes up her room and start crying as all girls have deserted her, only boys left, talking abt football, football and football. Sheffield is really modernising, the station looks nice, with a lovely path leading up to town passing our dear Hallam (oh, forgot u re from damn snobbish sheffield uni!) we're havin our xmas dinner soon, organised by Guy (remember what happened to him last year's xmas dinner at Ponoma!) at New Orleans, cant wait! what re u doing for xmas and New Year? i might visit ur beloved capital Dublin for NYE, still havent decided yet argh! everyone already made plans and bookings!
u re travellin S.America soon after New Year, arent u? some lil tips here- must to travel Peru and Bolivia for brilliant extreme activities such as Cusco in Peru for bungee jumpee and inca trail to Macchu Picchu ( for proper 4 days inca trail, best to book real real in advance, like now!), world highest sandboard dune in Nasca in Peru, riding on bike on the World most dangerous road in La Paz in Bolivia, Amazon river in Rurrenabaque in Bolivia, Salt Lake in Uyuni in Bolivia, skiing in Bariloche in Argentina, dance the Tango and watch Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires, speedboat under Iguaza Falls in Argentina/Brazil. These are the highlights i truly recommend and know u would enjoy them all. Note them all up u lazy b*****! (sorry to Mr and Mrs Walker for giving dangerous tips, but she's a strong confident girl, ur daughter :-))
Hope u re great and alive and will write up soon!

Hey Kaff!
Just been looking at your photos of Australia, they look great. Seems to me you're having the time of your life! It's graduation time now in Sheffield. Take care, hope u're pulling some good looking aussies! :-)

Hi everyone! Thanks for your birthday messages, had a great one in the Red Centre - got to watch the sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta (like Uluru, but more rocks) on my b'day morning, after having 'swagged' it under the stars - pretty cool :) got a signed 'Happy B'day' song from the group back at camp, they only had 5 mins to learn it while i had popped off to the bathroom, so they could surprise me...was sweet, but it was also a laugh to watch! (Thanks, Jess! :) ) Have been in Melbourne for the past few days, it's been really cold compared to the outback, it's like being home again - so the jumper and jeans are finally coming in useful!! Heading up the coast enroute to Sydney tonight, will be stopping at about halfway at Narooma for a couple of days before I get to the city.
Have finally put up some more pics of Borneo and Singapore - hopefully won't be too long before I get some Oz pics sorted!! Enjoy :) K xox
