Katie, you're amazing. Almost everyone I know is going through the time of their lives right now with university and all, but you're putting us all to shame. Frankly, if I ever do anything this cool in my entire life I'll be pretty satisfied. I hope it's as rewarding as it seems and that you're having a great time! Sorry I haven't been staying in touch very well, I'm pretty garbage at that sort of thing. I miss you! Keep writing.

Katie Honey: I don't mean to be redundant but your blog is fascinating. I'm so glad that you are enjoying the orphanage and enjoying the babies. I know all must be a real culture shock, however, at the same time you are getting so much out of this. Your descriptions are just wonderful and I so look forward to reading about your stay in Ghana. This probably gives you a pretty good idea of what you would like to do in the future. Medicine sounds like a natural for you and especially in dealing with babies. Keep up the good work honey. I am so proud of you. Love you very much. Bubs

Katie,
What excitement for you, It is great keeping up with all your adventures. My life certainly seems boring compared to yours, I am currently training a 3 and 1/2 month old puppy. She is adorable but certainly has her moments. take care , I will keep up with all your adventures

Katie...
Sorry I haven't written for a while...I was pretty sick for a bit, and then lots of tests...but all is well! Think old Aunt Jen, was too much of an over achiever and then got flu on top...and it all came crashing down. Back on the planet now, and ready to get back to it all!
It must be difficult seeing some of the things you would like to change, but know that you cannot, and that you are only there short term. Just keep "lovin" the babies! Hey, I used to wash cloth diapers! (Simon and David)
And yes, we wimpy Mid Westerners made it through our snow! (haha, Laura...pretty funny!)
Lots of Love Always,
Aunt Jen

Hi Katie love , Thank you for the postcard , Ghana looks very similar to Nigeria .
Aunt Jen and I are going down to Fayettville TN on friday to see Simon and family . It is about 416 miles or as they say here about six and a half hours , we will leave about 8 am and take our time , have lunch etc . We will drove back on sunday . Simon is still not working , for whatever reason and that is what we will try to find out . We get one story from Tenasha ( as I call her ) and a different one from Simon . We shall see !!
We will go across the Mississipi and down through Illinois , across a little bit of Kentucky and down almost to the border of Alabama where Fayetteville is .
Last night Jen and I went to see Tom Jones in concert . A great time was had by all his fans , very loudly . He is 66 and is wearing very well with a great voice still .
We are also going to see the Elvis impersonators which will be great I think .
I am so busy doing things in the house and shopping that I do not have time to paint at the moment. My ' art ' friends and I do go to the studio of a friend on sundays , except when there are other things to do . The studio owner has his studio in his basement so there is lots of room . His friend ' Jim ' is there also . Don is very well read and knows a lot about art of all sorts , a very nice man , as is Jim .
I am so enjoying your Blog and the discriptions of the events you have been to .
I love you very much ....Gran .

Hi Katie,
You may have 2 similar messages - couldn't see if the last one worked. Hope you are having a good time still. It sounds fascinating. Look forward to seeing the photos, Jerry's aprents were in Ghana for a long time 50 years ago so we have seen old photos. Thans for you note - it was great having you all to stay at new year. Love

Hey little darlin,
So nice to hear you're with the little kiddos. Your new duties hardly sounds like a "job" and just something that naturally are so good at and love to do.
Lovin the blog and lovin you,
Cousin Rose

Sorry forgot to ask - was there lots of music at independence day? What was it like?
Mum
Hi kiddo,
Well mampong sounds really great and you seem to be right in your element there - but don't get any ideas about bringing anyone home! The swimming must have been cool too - what do you mean it looked like Canada - was it very green with lots of trees about? The pictures you sent are terrific - and yes you are right, you don't look exactly natural washing the clothing.
Life here goes on as normal and not too much to report. Work is busy, Rachel is getting on with school and her social life (not in that order, I think), Dad flits in and out etc etc. I am a bit concerned that the eggars roof and loft extension might be finished before your bathroom - yes that's right, Alex still hasn't finished and I told him that you would kill him if you didn't have your own place for a proper shower when you got back! I hope you see this before you head back to Mampong, and as it is the weekend, I will try to give you a call tomorrow.
lots of love, always
mum

Katie Honey: I was unable to check your blog for a few days. I found it very interesting your description of the funeral you had attended. I am so enjoying reading about your experiences and living vicariously though your eyes. This must be a very exciting and interesting time in your life. Enjoy it honey and keep absorbing all that you can. I'm glad that you are finally working with young children since this is what you really wanted to do. I think about you all the time and love you very much. Thanks for the postcard. Much love from Zayds. Bubs

Hi Katie, I am really enjoying your discriptions of life in Ghana . I guess it is a little different from London !!
I think that you are enjoying the younger children as i think I would .
Jennie had flu recently and was under great stress at work . She actually fainted for a few seconds in the kitchen . I was very worried but her doctor has done blood tests and she has had a brain scan and all is well thank goodness .
On tuesday we hadb a blizzard which resulted in 5 inches of snow . We were only in for a day before we were realesed by the snow plough . It is still very cold and it will be in the teens Farenheit tomorrow .
I am well and continuing to walk a mile every day at the Rec center with my friend , also the Tai Chi classes are going well .
