So I thought I'd better do a quick blog entry to let you know how I'm getting on!
We got here just fine, the fligt was delayed by 2 hours so took 11 but it wasn't too bad in the end. The hostel is lovely, everyone is really friendly and it's clean!
So the first day we went for a walk around Gastown and the Chinese quater in the morning. We saw a really pretty traditional chinese garden and the famous Gas clock (although I was the only one who noticed it for some reason, it's amaller than you might expect!). In the afternoon we went for a free walking tour. The guide was brilliant, he took us round a large part of the city, mainly downtown, and then into Stanley Park. The views of the city from the sea wall are brilliant, especially since we got there around sunset. I'll try to upload some pictures soon!
Yesterday we hired bikes and went back around Stanley Park, all around the sea wall and into the centre to see Beaver lake and the lost lagoon. It's a beautiful park and we saw a couple of raccoons! Everyone's kinda sore today though after so long on the bikes. We also met up with Hannah, who has been out here and working for the Olympics, in the evening for a drink which was nice.
Today we pick up the car at 2:00 ish. The plan is to get the ferry to Vancouver Island and spend a couple of days there before heading back through Vancouver and up to Whistler, Kamloops etc before heading further inland. Hopefully I'll get online again fairly soon and let you know how that all goes!
