Friday April 17th.
Short entry cause we want to head to bed.
Woke up this morning after a much more refreshing, although not perfect, sleep due again to Manaen's genius.
While I was showering, Manaen went to a local pattisserie to buy a croissant and some sandwiches to take with us to the Eiffel tower. It was going to be a long afternoon of waiting in lines and we wanted something affordable and delicious for lunch in the park afterwards.
Had a quick breakfast across the street of Cafe au Lait and a shared omlette.
The line ups at the tower were loooongggg. About 1 hour in total for downstairs, and we had to fight our way into every elevator, as well as to get a ticket for the top floor because they had closed it temporarily due to too many people. Finally made it up and the views were beautfiul. We did both agree after that the magic of the tower is seeing it from the ground, surrounded by the nature of the park and the architecture of parisian apartment buildings. It was freezing at the top but we sat in the park afterwards eating our sandwiches and it was much more pleasent.
A chocolate chad and creme brulee that was good but still not as good as Manaen's. (Paris-0, Manaen-2) at a very nice cafe next to our metro station.
Back to the apartment to put on some warmer clothes - it was just too windy for what I was wearing. We were falling asleep on the Metro so I knew it was time to listen to our bodies and take a nap. Boy did we nap!! From about 4-7pm, and it was gooood. The bed was even comfortable. Tonight we're going to try on top of the covers, with a different blanket on top. We'll let you know how it goes ;)
We're doing our best to follow some "Paris walks" every day, but have been getting off track, doing them backwards or skipping sections. There's just too much to see and too many distractions to pull you off the course. After our nap we went out for some fresh air and followed half of a walk on Ile St. Louis. We hadn't fully explored this island yet and were happily surprised. It is quieter and beautiful because of it. Some gorgeous little restaurants on the main street. We ate at a modern, tiny one called Sorza. Shared a salad to start, each had a glass of wine and our main courses were risotto and pasta. Filling and Manaen was raving about the meal on the way home. We stopped for Berthillion ice cream and sauntered over to the Notre Dame. Admired the church for a few minutes and calling it a night, we caught the Metro from Cite station.
Heading to bed now, wish us luck for a good nights sleep!
Will add some photos in the AM.
xoxo
