Saturday in Brooklyn…
After a great breakfast, we spent yesterday walking through the old neighbourhoods of Brooklyn. It really is a beautiful area. The old Brownstone terraces shone in the winter sunlight and it seemed to have a much more relaxed pace than busy Manhattan. We walked through Prospect Park, a huge recreational space rivaling Central Park, and had coffee in a small café near by. It really was a pleasant day, stopping at places to eat and drink and checking out the streetscapes.
For dinner we went to a local wine bar where Vanessa sometimes works on the weekends. Its one of the best bars I've ever been to. From the outside you'd never know it was there. Once inside, seated either at the bar or by the fire, you feel as though you've come to a friend's place for a yummy glass of wine and some yummy cheese to match. The setting is incredibly intimate and we had a wonderful evening hanging out with Simon and Vanessa's friends. After the wine bar we headed to a random Christmas Party and that's where it all went wrong! It might be why we haven't ventured out into the cold and wet winter New York day!
