June 21st - New Delhi - 10:12 am
Its SO hot! The humidity in itself isn't too bad - it's the prolonged exposure that's intolorable! After a relaxing morning at my Guest House, reading the newspaper and dancing to a Katy Perry "Last Friday Night" ringtone with the hostel clerk (awesome way to start a day in India btw!) I decided to hit the tourist trail. First stop - the market. The first hour out I was feeling pretty good, like I had fast tracked the climate transition and laughed in the face of jet lag. I was smuggly walking around with confidence that I was a born traveller, that this was a sign that I belonged in India.
Fast forward a few hours and I'm sitting, exhausted, at the stairwel entrance to Diwan-i-Am, a sweaty, hot mess. Despite the aft that there is a historic tomb located just meters behind me, I'm not sure what is the bigger tourist attaction: the mughal tom or me, recovering at its steps.
I caked on the sunscreen this morning but somehow I still look like a tomato. Perhaps my tranformation from pale white to bright red will subtract from my race-based celebrity attention...
*smile for about 20 cameras*
