Hello!

Kate here! We're currently in Byron Bay so i thought i'd do a nice short blog whilst we have a bit of time!

We spent our last few days in Brisbane wandering around the shops and visiting the lagoon! Here in Oz all the major cities have lagoons so you can just go and chill out for the afternoon and have a swim its lovely! Thank you to everyone for your birthday messages and texts. I had a great birthday at Australia Zoo followed by a meal and drinks.

It was also in Brisbane where Katie and I had our first experience with the Aussie police! (not as bad as it sounds I promise!) We crossed the road on a red man as there was nothing coming and apparently this is an offence in Oz! It wasn't long before we were being called over to the side of the road by a rozzer who had been hiding at the side and who then went on to give us a lesson in Australian law! After apologizing we managed to get out of a $40 fine and have learnt our lesson!

After Brisbane we went to Surfers Paradise which was actually a lot bigger than i imagined. It was built for tourists and we found ourselves passing Prada and Louis Vuitton despite being told it was a backpacker place! Whilst in Surfers we went to Dreamworld theme park which also has an adjoining water park which was particularly fun! It's a shame the UK isn't hot enough for water parks!

On Friday we arrived in Byron Bay where I have developed a cold! (sob sob) Today we have been on the 'happy coach' to Nimbin which is a hippy village. This was a very strange experience and you will all be pleased to know we declined their offer of free 'smokes' and special cookies!!!

Anyway time for me to go! We are travelling to Surf Camp tomorrow morning for our free surf lesson and a quick overnight stop then it's off to Sydney!!!
