Kate's Travels
Got the overnight train back to Bangkok which went really quickly, the 'disco cart' - essentially the diner with a cd player and some fairy lights - helped pass the time, along with Natalie, the ladyboy waitress hehe.
No-ones really fussed about being back in Bangkok, but the weather was glorious, over 40 degrees, so after a sleep (we arrived at 7am) we went into town and had a wander.
Then we went and met the new group and our new tour leader, jeff, and american so much more informative and chatty than our previous thai guide who wasnt very confident with her english!
We all went out for pizza - not very thai i know bvut having had rice and noodles for breakfast lunch and dinner for the past week it was what we all needed! the group seem ok, theres a couple of girls from blackpool, 2 girls from scotland, a lad from scotland and a german couple. Our previous group was very outgoing with lots of big characters so i dont think it will really measure up, but theres me, jen, darren and kelly who all really get on anwyay so its all good.
We went for a few drinks in an Irish bar which had a brilliant live band on (again continuing our thai - themed night after the pizza!) before bed.
The next day our original group all had brunch together as it was our last time together - we are on a 22 day tour whereas about 6 of the 12 are on an 18 day tour - they put the groups together for the bits that overlap and then new people join for the rest of the tour. So 5 of us are doing the 22 days down to thailand, and 7 people will join us who are jsut doing the part of our tour from now on.
Jen and I just wandered around the backstreet stalls of Bangkok off Khao San Road avoiding the heat. We picked up a few bits and bobs - i got some pink fishermans trousers for about 1.50 - and jen got a henna tattoo on her hand.
Another overnight train tonight, down to khao sok national park.
