Kate's Travels
Arrived in Sydney on Monday and could hardly contain my excitement, i couldnt wait to see all the sights! I got the train from the airport to my hostel and went past the opera house and bridge and couldnt believe that i was actually seeing them, they are so pretty. On my first night i wandered up to Circular Quay and watched the sun set behind the bridge, was so pretty and couldnt quite believe that I was actually there.rnrnOn Tuesday I went up to Bondi Beach, just to say I'd been! Its a very quaint, sea side kind of town. The beach is lovely but not a patch on some of the coast lines ive seen so far, but i think its more famous for its surf than the actual beach, and there were some surfers out making the most of the waves and lack of poeple on a Tuesaday morning!! rnrnAfter lunch in Bondi i caught the bus back to the CBD and had a look around Darling Harbour before meeting some friends id met at the hostel last night at the acqurium. Darling Harbour is smaller than circular quay but it is very pretty and well used by sydneysiders which is nice. There are lots of water features and grassy parts infront of all the cafes, bars and restaurants which line cockle bay.rnrnThe acquarium is fab and lives up to its reputation. It's huge! We spent a good few hours in there. Saw sharks, seals, a platypus (most random animal ever) the cast of nemo, the biggest stingray ive ever seen - was about 1.5m across - a crocodile, jellyfish, hundreds of fish... there were so many things. There are lots of tunnels that you walk through where the fish swim over you, and a viewing pool where the seals swim around and jump up and play around which was my favourite bit!rnrnDid a pub quiz that night in the hostel, we were doing really well and were in the top 3 for the whole quiz until the last round where we just lost it. We got a free round for the best team name though - Quiz Team Aguilera hehehe
