We arrived in Krabi after a nice boat trip from phi phi on the top deck in the sun, lovely! We checked into our last pre-booked hotel which was great, by which time Jez had arrived to meet us. Its always so good because he always finds where we're staying and comes to se us so we don't have to do anything. I know that sounds lazy but it's great! Anyway after chilling out for a bit we went and checked out the town which was fairly touristy and had some decent bars and nightlife. We checked out the beaches but they were pretty average in comparison to that of all the previous islands and the water was not anywhere near as clear. But we were aware it was going to be like this as we wanted somewhere a bit busier for New Years so we were quite pleased. After checking out some shops we found a cheap little restaurant and got some dinner. The prices were amazing and the portions were brilliant. I had sweet and sour chicken and rice and a chicken fried curry with vegetables and rice for a mere 2 pounds. Kate and Jez had the usual Massaman Curry, which was also a great feed. After a cornetto for desert we kept wandering and then went back to Jez's digs to chill for a bit before bed.
The next morning we were up early for our all you can eat breakfast at the hotel, we were very happy people. We munched on cornflakes, bacon sandwiches, omelettes, pancake, croissants and toast, it was a beautiful time for us!! haha. We even smuggled loads in a bag for Jez as we felt sorry for him while we were eating our way through Krabi. Our restaurant was right on Ao Nang beach and it wasn't up to much so we decided to go to one up the road which was quite nice and very long. But the sand isn't fine and powdery and its alot darker sand compared to others. However it definitely served its purpose as we chilled on it until mid afternoon, which is when we decided to get some food and have a few drinks, seeing as it was New Years Eve. We went and ate a couple of meals each at a local vendor and had some Changs which was great. We saw a huge American Ice Cream restaurant called Nickerbockerglory's whilst walking the streets - it was inevitable that we were going straight there. We had the most beautiful chocolate brownie sundays- It was pure bliss!! They were a really decent size as well which is always good. In fact we might go there after writing this because its making me really hungry haha!!
Afterwards we got some more beers from the local shop and took them back to our room to get ready. The Changs were starting to take affect by this time and the night had only just began. We were having a really great time so we wondered back into town and hit a local cocktail bar, we decided to live it up from the usual cheap, dirty chang (Kate was pleased). We love our cocktails, but they are special occasion drinks for us as they cost about 3 quid each, which tends to hit the budget hard compared to the 1 pound Changs that are huge haha. It all ends the same way after all. Anyway, we mooched along the beach where the thai's were letting of lanterns into the air which was cool, but that only entertained us for 10 minutes before we were back into some bars on the main street, drinking the buckets. It was so fun, we were given afro wigs and we were just acting like complete tools. It was a really great night even though the Thai's managed to c*** up the countdown but we had our own anyway with the other tourists. Everyone was popping balloons with sticks and Jez was so drunk he went to pop a balloon and stabbed his hand the plonker, quite amusing to watch though but he didn't think so haha. It was a bit of a blur after that but we saw a couple of friends from our Chiang Mai trek and Phi Phi for a while and then got in about 4.30am. The next day was horrible haha, but I'm not going to complain about that on here.
After sleeping most the day getting over our night out Jez left in the afternoon for Bangkok and we treated ourselves to another chocolate brownie sunday, and for a change we went for another meal at our local restaurants. We were both quite fragile so we hit a shop where they sell perfect qaulity DVD copies and bought some to send home and watch that night as we had a DVD Player in our room. I know get us hey!!!!! haha. It was actually really nice to relax and have a night in and we felt on top of the world the next morning.
Anyway the last two days here have been spent in a internet cafe as the weather has been a little miserable and it was about time we caught up on our journal and emailing friends etc. It only costs 2 pounds to use the computer for the whole day here, which we couldn't really pass up to be honest. Not the most fun 2 day's but we have got a load done. Anyway we're of to Railay tomorrow which is meant to be gorgeous, just up from Krabi. So i think we're going to chill there for a couple of days and then work our way down to Koh Lanta and then Ko Lipe. So we'll try and keep our Journal up to date now and we'll put pics on when we can as it takes ages. Talk soon xx
