Okay, so our first few days in USA were pretty great. We got to LA at about 830 in the morning last sunday, didnt sleep much on the flight so our day consisted of laying around the pool. We walked to the shops around the corner, a massive Macy's store to get out phones and some gangster guy started hitting on us, we were a bit scared but it was pretty amusing. We went out to dinner that night with the other CCUSA people staying at the Radisson with us, we went to "Dinahs" the food was disgusting, the serves are hugeee my eggs benedict came with a side of three pancakes, and the bacon with my eggs looked like a piece of steak.
On the Monday we to Santa Monica, walked along the pier, there was a ferris wheel and rollercoaster and a Bubba Gump store, apparently its where Forrest Gump started his run across America. The beach is about 1km wide so takes like 10 mins to reach the water. We walked down 3rd St prominade, kinda like an outdoor shopping centre was pretty cool. Walked along the path to Venice Beach, was an interesting experience- soo many weirdos hang out there, a lot homeless and we saw about 4 medical marijuana shops and two bums pretending to have a knife fight.
Tuesday we went to Universal Studios, was pretty good not many rides though. The House of Horrors is the worst thing ever, never screamed so much. Saw Wisteria Lane which was pretty cool.
Wednesay we went on a tour of LA. Started off stalking the celebrity homes, duno if they actually were their homes but anyway. Went to Beverly Hills stopped at Rodeo Dr and checked out the shops. Went along Sunset Str which was pretty seedy, was pretty much nightclubs, comedy clubs and strip clubs. Hollywood Blvd was seedy as well, looking at all the stars and handprints was cool but all the bums dressed up as ppl were annoying, especially Marilyn and Barney.
will add more soon the computer keeps disconecting
ok here's some more.
Thursday step and I went rollerblading along Venice Beach, it was lots of fun but we didnt realise how hard it would be, we were pretty bad at it but managed not to fall over. Looked at all the markets along the sidewalk and saw a couple of guys doing a street performance, I videoed it so will try to upload on facebook soon. That night we got the midnight flight to NY didnt sleep much.
Arrived in NY at about 830 in the morning and caught the subway to 42nd street, we were a bit worried that we wouldnt find our way to the bus taking us to camp since we got lost in sydney a few weeks ago but we were fine. Slept most of the bus ride to camp.
Got to camp on friday arvo, pretty much looks like the summer camps you see in the movies, bunk beds etc. After dinner we learnt some Israelie dancing, we'll show you all the moves when we get back. We sing Hebrew songs before and after meals as well, dont really know how to pronounce any words except shalom but we try.
First few days at camp have been good, the kids aren't here yet so we're just getting ready for everything, step and I are on the athletics team so we have been weeding the volley courts and pull rocks out of the dirt on the basefield its so much fun... and at night we have been playing games - dodge ball, kickball. The mornings are freeezing feels like aussie winter but gets pretty hot during the day most of the time except it hailed yesterday. There's alot of aussie staff here so we pretty much dominate at the moment until the rest of the american staff come. The past few mornings we have woken up to the ting tings playing over the loud speaker- not fun.
I'm being sent away for a day to do my archery course and then ill be certified, which is good haha. We have staff orientation next week so ill add more later.
