Hi!
Had a great few days in Nha Trang which is basically water sports and beach capital of Vietnam!
We arrived late afternoon in the rain, and after a bit of a struggle to find a place to stay we got a good deal on the main street, which is very touristy.
The 1st full day in Nha Trang we got up fairly early, had breakfast and hit the beach! It was searingly hot, I think the hottest place so far- we hired loungers and then with that we got to use a swimming pool for free :) That evening we found a funny food place called "Pho King Good" which did have very good pho! (noodle soup).
The day after we went scuba diving!, which we were really excited about :) We were on the boat with coco diving by 8am and travelled to Mon Island, the 1st dive destination. It was a really scenic journey, unfortunatley Tom got badly sea sick:( so I don't think he enjoyed it at all. When we got to the dive site we went for a swim and luckily he felt much better. We've never dived before, so we each had a instructor and they were supposed to hold onto us the whole time underwater for a 30min dive. The equipment was so heavy whilst you were out of the water, but once I jumped in it was easy to swim. Breathing underwater is so strange!, it took me a while to get used to it... The water was so warm and clear and there were loads of corals and little fish everywhere :) I paid for a digital camera underwater, but my instructor kept getting me to do really posy photos underwater which are quite funny! Tom and I met underwater for about 15 mins and the instructors let us swim around and exmplore a bit which was good. Tom held a dead starfish and I saw finding nemo fish swimming! The 30 mins went really quickly and soon we were back on the boat and having tea and sandwiches. Next we travelled to the 2nd dive site, where I decided to do a dive and Tom went snorkelling. The 2nd dive was even better than the 1st!, and I went with Tom's instructor who was more friendly :) I learnt a bit about bouyancy control, We descended to 11.7m (the max for unqualified was supposed to be 8) and went through a cave, saw some much bigger and very colourful fish, as well as a really long fish with a flat nose. Tom said his snorkelling was really good as well, he could see a lot of corals and fish from a distance. :-)
In the evening we saw that there was a pub quiz and thought it would be handy to win some money... we didnt win! We paired with an Australian couple who knew a lot more of the answers than we did, a lot of the stuff in the quiz happened before we were born!, but it was fun anyway :)
The following day we took the worlds longest over the sea cable car to "Vinpearl Land"- a private isalnd theme park and waterpark! The best bit was the waterslides, about 20 in total and a huge lazy river that took about 40 minutes to complete :) The best was tsunami ride, which was a huge huge half pipe with water flowing down, and then you slide down in a double rubber ring, very scary! I don't think health and safety is quite the same here as in England, some of the rides were slightly dangerous! That evening we splashed out more than normal to eat at a really popular resturant called Lanterns, which supports various orphanages with its profits- food was really good, my meal came in a hollowed out pineapple!
Our last day was a bit lazy, went to the beach and pool for a bit, then hunted for some books for the 12 hour bus journey that evening which we were NOT looking forward to as we never manage to sleep!. We lunch and a ate a quick evening meal at Pho King Good just before catching a sleeper bus to Hoi An at 6, which should arrive at 6am the following morning!
Hope you enjoyed reading :-)
