We arrive at Goa's main train station, Madgoan, when it was dark. WE climbed straight into a taxi and head to Palolem beach. The drive took about 45mins. As we had no where to stay, we settled for the first guesthouse we could find - "Seagull". The room was very basic and we lost power the minute the owner handed us the keys, but for 6 quid, we didn't complain!
Our days were spent unwinding and chillang out as we had planned. We had lazy days on the beach and evenings filled with incredible curries and kingfisher beer.
We rented a kayak twice. It took us out the the neighbouring uninhabited island and round the lagoon at the end of the beach that filled up and emptied with the tide. It was a beautiful and serene place.
One morning we went out on a local fisherman's boat at 6.30am. We managed to catch a glimpse of some dolphins out at sea (all our photos are crap), take a look at some nearby deserted coves and watch the sunrise.
We had a barbeque one evening with the residents of our beach huts. The prawns were incredible. Our hosts also set up a bonfire on the beach but due to an unexpected downpour, we were unable to enjoy it!
Most of the food we ate in Goa was superb - the curries and dal were our favuourite. One particular restuarant served chicken do piaza - a mix of nuts, cream and spices that was amazing. Naans everywhere were incredible and cost about 20-30p!
e really enjoyed our time in Goa and treated it as more of a holiday at the start of our trip. We were sad to leave but also excited about exploring more of India.
Our night train to Kochi left Goa on Sunday 24th Feb at around 9.30pm for a 14hour journey to Kerala.
