After a 27 hour bus ride we were very excited to be in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. However, when we arrived the weather was terrible. It was rainy and cold for our entire stay. We spent the first 2 days there lounging around in the common area of our dorm watching movies. However there was quite a night life in Hanoi. The first night we were there they had free beer at the roof top bar at our hostel. Kate and I took full advantage of this situation. They had a giant jenga game made of 2 by 4's. We were part of a bar record for the game, we got up to 41 levels. I was the last one to take out a piece successfully (not to brag or anything). We also explored the town looking for good deals on trips to Halong Bay. While out for dinner one night we met a local charmer named Lucky who sold us on his trip. So the next day we were off to Halong Bay.
When we got back from Halong Bay we went out looking for some warmer clothes for a trip to Sapa, which we heard was very cold. Hanoi had specific streets for specific items you were looking for. We went down tin road, camera road, confetti road, underwear road, party supply road and clothing road. We were unsuccessful in our mission to find warmer clothes for Sapa. After hearing that there was snow there we decided to skip it all together and move on further south to Hue. After a 12 hour night bus we arrived in Hue. We were hoping for better weather but it was still raining and cold. We explored the city and went on an hour boat ride down perfume river. That night we went out with some of our friends we have been traveling with. We spent the night dancing and chatting. Today we are leaving for Hoi An.
That's all for now Court and Kate
