Hi all!! We have managed to venture up the entire west coast passing up through Haast and on up to the north east - Abel Tasman national park. This park is only accessible mainly but boat so we spent two days travelling up and back this stunningly beautiful part of the country. The sun was hot as well which made all the difference!! At last we could relax in the weather we had been hoping for!
Spent days hiking before heading across through Nelson and on up to Malborough Sounds which is near Picton. We spent a day here kayaing, cylcing and walking before hooking up with Kiwi friends Kim & Nige. On our final morning in the Sounds we managed to swim with about 20 wild dusky dolphins which was amazing. They were very friendly and swam right up and around us... spooky at first be brilliant when they are close.... we had to hum stupid high pitched tunes to get them interested in us so we sounded extremely odd!!!!
Spent a great weekend with them spending one day at many different wineries (getting free tastings the entire way - including ending up with free shots... maybe one too many!!) and the second day enjoying the sun in Postarge and also Pickton where we played a round of crazy golf near the harbour!! Great hosts and fun to catch up at last!
Monday (tomorrow) we are heading across to the north island and spending our final week here... will keep you posted.
