Ryan & Kasia's Travels
Well Hello!!!
Last time we spoke we were just leaving Venice. Well I'm here to say we did Greece and were back here in Italy. We took a 31hr ferry to Patras, Greece. We arrived at 9:30pm and if it wasn't for a wonderful Greek lady on the ferry who called her brother to drive us to out hotel out of town, we would have been screwed. Anyway, I found this hotel online that looked awesome but was the same price as a hostel. The catch...25km from Patras...$30 cab ride and very secluded. But this is exactly what we needed. Some relaxation cause all we have done was site see. The pictures we took don't do the setting justice. The hotel was right on the Ionian Sea-which is linked to the Mediterranian Sea. We had the beach and a fabulous pool. So after 4 days of doing absolutely nothing, we headed back into town and tried to get to athens but there weren't any hostels available so we hopped on a ferry back to Italy. This time we took a 20hr ferry to Ancona then took a train to Florence and arrived at about 9pm. So for the last 2 days we have been doin the Florence thing. It is a very artistic city. The first day we saw the Baboli gardens at Pitti Palace and we went to the Bargello Sculpture Museum where there is works by Michelangelo and more. We then went to the Piazza Santa Croce...This is where you will find the tombs of Michelangelo, the great physicist Galileo Galilei, and the political thinker Machiavelli. Day 2 was even better though. At first we caught train to the little town called Pisa, where there is this Tower they call the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Seems to be quite popular with the tourists. Actually, it was quite amazing to be standing in front of it. we took some cliche pictures but it was fun. That's all Pisa really has to offer. So we basically took a 1hr train ride to see the Tower but it was worth it. When we got back to Florence we walked to the Galaria Academia...which is where you will find the Original "Michelangelo's David". Yes, we paid a pretty penny to stand in front of a giant naked man. And I am not embarassed to say that it was fabulous. All over the museum signs read "Pictures are FORBIDDEN", but you know me, I'm not payin all that money just to tell you people about it. Most people were sneeking pocs without the flash that wouldn't turn out because of the lighting. I needed a better picture than that so I positioned myself for a good view and I snapped a good one with a flash. I instantly stuck out like an asian in Poland. Security was all over me and people were staring. They asked for my camera but I said NO! Luckily they didn't speak english and I only confused them. They finally left me alone and we left. I was all worth it, Kasia was of course embarassed because everyone was staring but she'll thank me later when we develop that one.
So that was out day.. We've been eating lots of pizza, bread and gelato. Actually today we ate at...McDonald's. I'm not gonna lie to you people...it was fabulous.
So only 6 more days and we leave tomorrow for Rome where there is tons to see.
I just found out that the Oil lost again. Let's hope that chump Conklin can pull a couple out cause I see a Roloson come back for game 6.
So we hope all is well at home and we can't wait to see you all soon. Lookin forward to the Beersbie showdown at the Beniuks.
