Epsom North, New Zealand
Today marked one week since I moved to New Zealand. I am Polish, so its a pretty big move. Everything happened pretty fast. In November I was happily living with my Kiwi partner in London. Traveling around Europe on our time off, enjoying pints of ale in pubs, complaining about the London Underground and the British weather;)
We wanted to move to NZ but it was a very distant future....
At the end of November he got offered an amazing job. The One that you can't say "no" to. Passed the interview, signed a contract.... At the beginning of February we found ourselves packing our life into 17 boxes and sending it to New Zealand. For me, polish girl, the decision about moving to "the end of the world", leaving all my family and friends behind, moving out of my comfort zone, out of my safety babble...wasn't easy. It may seem an obvious choice for a random observer but it was a big step. I made my final decision and decided to move to New Zealand and start our new life there.
Stayed in London for 3 more months after my partner left. Needed that time to say my goodbyes to people, to places and most importantly to the part of my life that would be just a memory from then. All I am going to say is that it wasn't easy at all.
So here I am. In the middle of Pacific. In the country of a white cloud, in the city of sails.... Getting used to a completely different culture, trying to fit in but keep my heritage intact at the same time.
I am not alone. I have my partner and his family supporting me and making me very welcome. Missing home everyday tho. Missing my mum everyday....
It is not an easy step to take. Surly, it is not easy to understand it for someone who has not done it before. It's not like moving temporarily to a bigger city 1000 km away from home. It's being able to end a certain chapter of your life that you didn't really think of ending before. It's an ability to say goodbye to your friends because no friendship will survive the lifetime separation. It's ability to be courages enough and decide to live your live away from your family, from your parents, from your mum.... And it's all because of this one person. All those things because of this one guy.
It must be love I am thinking to myself;)
I am happy:)
