Hey!
We now updated the pictures (second week album) and put out two new albums yesterday, one from Darjeeling and the other one from Hogolkuria, one of the outdoor clinics.
This clinic is a good example of what IIMC is trying to reach. Here they have a school for all the children living nearby, the second floor is a orphanage for IIMC sponsored children. They get clothes, healthcare, food and school. Next to this building is the Microcredit programme. This is based on the principle that the women are given small loans so that they can get on their feet and try to start making some money on their own. The idea comes from Mohammad Yunus from Bangladesh who won the Nobel Peace Price in 2006, he as also visited IIMC. Its a great opportunity for the women since they are not eligiblel to get a loan any other way. And most of them are illiterate, but they try to break the circle and educate their children. In the same building is a room where they make Mozzarella, only for the local pizza restaurant. (Can see the Italian influence and their big contribution to the organization).
The area around are nothing but green banana trees as far as you can see, and there has never been anything else there either. Just 100 metres away is the outdoor clinic where they all come for basic health care, and thats where we work, every friday.
To reach what they have reached here is the goal of other clinics and schools. To help build up a society and hopefully in another 5-10 years they manage on their own. Its touching and wonderful to see that it helps..
Now - lunch is waiting!
