Arrived in Airlie Beach on Saturday, then booked my trip to sail the Whitsundays. We left on Wednesday morning from the marina. The boat I was travelling on was the Waltzing Matilda. A smallish sail boat with only 13 passengers and 2 crew. Once all settled in and run through all the safety procedures we were off. First stop was to a cove off Hook Island for lunch and then some snorkling, I didn't actually go snorkling but took a ride in the tender. Then onto our next stop around the other side of Hook Island at Stonehaven Bay, which was where we dropped anchor for the evening. Had dinner and then settled in chatting and drinking. The following morning it was up early for breakfast and then off to Whitehaven Beach. This was the longest section of sailing and the weather was pretty rough, we had a few sea sick people. We moored up just off Tongue bay and took the tender to the island, once all there we took a ten minute walk through the rainforest to a lookout over Whitehaven Beach and then headed down onto the beach for an hour. Unfortunatly it started raining so we didn't spend long there. Walked back to Tongue Bay and waited to be picked up. Back on the boat and it was off to look for another place to snorkle, Fabien, our skipper was trying to find the best place for everyone. After the snorkling it was up round to our cove for our evening stop. Another early stop but it was well worth it due to it was the first time on the whole trip that we had sunshine... Sailed up to Blue Pearl Bay of Haymen Island, people went snorkling and I stayed on the boat to soak up the sun and help the ships mate, Antony, to clean up and make lunch. After lunch it was time to set sail again to make our way back to Airlie Beach. It didn't take long for the weather to turn again and the heavens opened, I got totally soaked. But luckly just as we were heading into the marina it turned nice again so we managed to get a group photo.
Then it was back on dry land in airlie for a couple of days before I got back on the bus and onto my next destination.
