Hit the hill tribe (Pat-O) market today & shopped "til we dropped. Nice to put a little money into the local economy. Pottered around the lake in our motorised canoe with our boatman who seems to have radar. Whichever jetty we come out on, he always seems to be waiting. Viisited a monastry where the monks have taught kittens to jump through hoops - Andrew was less than impressed.
Inle Lake is lovely - a bit like Venice with all actvities happening on the water & lots of creeks between villages of stilt houses & floating gardens. One of the most amazing things are the fishermen who paddle dug out canoes with their legs - fascinating to watch. Wasn't keen on the long necked ladies - think having to wear a number of heavy bands around their neck & then parading them like zoo animals is not really on.
After dinner Andrew switched the TV on for the first time in days to find that the match between United & Bolton was just about to start. He relaxed back to enjoy the game & managed to bring the whole mosquito net kit & kaboodle crashing down. It was too high for him to reach up to fix so he called reception & they sent 2 quite short oriental boys to fix it. Karina stepped out of the bathroom having done soma laundry & thought we'd hired the Moscow State Circus in. Anyway the job go done & we got a good nights sleep under our fixed mosquito net.
