I arrived in Sydney Weds 30th November. The feeling when I arrived in Sydney was amazing! I never thought I would ever got there so the excitement and nervousness was pretty special! The first hostel I stayed in was Sydney Central YHA. It was amazing, like a hotel! Its my favourite one I stayed in whilst in Sydney. The second one I stayed in was Collaroy beach house. I hated it and went back to the city early!!! The third one was very different. Sydney Railway Square YHA. Its in the train station and the dorms are old carriages! Look out of the dorm window and you could see the train station and all the trains arriving and leaving! The last hostel I stayed in was Sydney Harbour YHA. It over looked the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Amazing view but the hostel looked like it hadn't been finished being built!
On the first Sunday I was there I did the Skywalk in the sky tower. They put you in a lift up to the top of the tower which is 268m above street level! At the top is an indoor lookout area but the skywalk they harness you up and put you on the platform of the outside of the building. The view was spectacular. Could see everything, even the planes landing and taking off at the airport. I would love to do it again at night it was brill!
I first saw the Harbour bridge and opera house properly and up close about 5 days after I got to Sydney. I went with a girl from my hostel called Lucy and we went on a Friday night after going to the rock markets. Seeing the Bridge and house lit up was amazing. Definatly the best way to see them for a first time! When I return to Sydney I am going to do the Bridge climb as its quite expensive I need to earn some cash first!! Lucy also showed me round China town and Darling Harbour which were both different to the rest of Sydney. Darling harbour had a holiday feel about it and was real nice, China town was nice in a different way! We had a meal there on my last night in Sydney which was great. Good value aswell!
On Wednesday 14th December I left Sydney on the Indian Pacific train and headed back to Perth for xmas. The train took 3 nights, but luckily the people on board were chatty and some little 5 year old boy fell in love with me so I didn't get bored! Now I am back in Perth enjoying a day or two's rest while job searching!!
