Bad news, friends. I can't seem to upload photos from my camera to the website with these computers. I may be able to in the future, but that means pictures may be limited.
Amy and I were up early again today, though we still had to fight some of our dorm-mates for bathroom time. There was rain in today's forecast but the sky was clear so we left for the ueno area first. The area is primarily made up of a huge park, zoo, and museums. We walked a cherry blossom tree-lined street and took tons of pictures. Someone put 4 kittens on one of the tree branches and it damn near caused a "kawaiiiii" photo frenzy!
It began to lightly rain so we opted to hea back to our hostel for a short break and to grab our coats and umbrellas before exploring akihabara, the otaku/geek district. We braved the rain and started exploring. Lots of great things, almost nothing related to any anime I know (besides adult material).
At this point the wind kicked in also and we were soaking wet. A garbage can blew into traffic and was smashed to pieces by the car it collided with. We ran as fast as possible to check out a maid cafe and get a hot drink.
What is a maid cafe? Well, super cute girls dressed like maids serve you, play games, sing and dance, and call you master or mistress! The girls didn't speak too much English but the confident ones came to talk with us. It was absolutely delightful (as you can see from my photo).
Unfortunately we had to get back into the rain and run back to the train... Only to discover the trains were shut down due to the severe storm. We waited a half hour with no improvement and then gave up and walked back. It was only 15 minutes and the storm had begun to clear. With soaking wet pants and hair we took some hot showers, got into our jammies, and enjoyed a simple dinner of onigiri, matcha green tea, and mochi (a flavored rice paste dessert ball). Now we are exhausted and doing a little light reading before bed. Shibuya tomorrow, then we will be off to nikko the day after! Will update again soon.

as above Kaitlin-my little Berlioz Japanese dictionary is NOT going to be of any help as it is organized by English phrases- sounds like our west coast weather - cherry blossoms and all! Hugs to you and Amy - Gram
