We have arrived in Salzburg after so many hours of travel that even I lost count! Lucky for us the volcano held in its' ashes and we landed right on schedule! I was starting to feel like a charactor in Planes, Trains and Automobiles! Drove from Stuart to Miami, flew 9 hours to Zurich cleared customs and immediately boarded our next flight to Munich. Unfortunely, the tight connection gave me no time to enjoy the wonderful shopping experience I could have had - better then the Boca Mall. My wonderful husband even gave me spending money for my birthday - the perfect gift!! Once we arrived in Munich we purchased our train tickets to Salzburg, after a 2.5 hour journey thru the countryside of Germany and Austria we arrived in a rainstorm - needless to say Frank let us take a taxi instead of our usual hoofing it to the hotel!!
I turned 44 as we flew over the Atlantic Ocean, sleeping next to a strange gentleman from Nice; very romantic, as Frank and Kai were huddled together across the aisle. After a glass of wine, two simply sleep and my noise canceling headphones I managed to doze on and off. My envisions of being called up to first class for my special day never panned out!!! Kai wanted to know where all the good seats went as we passed thru business class on back to coach. He was very happy to see his own tv/stereo system, so he was all smiles again. Being a kid, he had no trouble falling asleep. You know me and food - Swiss didn't disappoint - we had a nice chicken dinner with FREE beverages!! Then a warm croissant with jelly in the morning.
Hotel is wonderful and all I had hoped for. http://www.auersperg.at/en/ So far, my hours of planning have paid off once again!! We are off to another perfect adventure as we explore Salzburg tomorrow morning. Off to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a much needed glass of wine (we even got FREE drink coupons upon check-in!)
Looking forward to sleeping in a bed tonight!!
