Today is our last day in Vietnam, we fly out to Thailand tomorrow, we have a very exciting day planned- waiting 12 hours in an airport!
Saturday night was really good, drank a lot in the hostel bar, did an 'upside down margharita', went out with some awesome people from our hostel and drank some more!
Sunday was spent recovering. We went to see the 'water puppet dance show' but we were both knackered and ended up falling asleep for some of it. It wasn't very good anyway. We one again explored the old quarter, got dinner (burger and chips- noodles get a bit dull after a while...) and went back to the hostel for Happy Hour but noone was there, all the people we'd met up with over the past few days had either left or were doing an excursion, so it was a quiet night.
We had a day trip on Monday to Hoa Lu and Tam Coc. It was pouring with rain as we visited a very disappointing temple and got harassed to buy ridiculous full-body macs. We then had a pretty good lunch- we tried goat, which is possibly the most adventurous either of us has been with food so far. It was alright, except the 'baaing' in the background was a little off-putting... We then had a boat trip, sitting in a little rowing boat for an hour whilst some Vietnamese woman rowed with her feet. It was really picturesque and generally nice but got pretty boring... Once you've seen one paddy field and rock faces you've seen them all... The journey to and from this place was quite an experience. We were continually thrown out of our seats due to pot holes which meant that even I struggled to sleep on the 2 hour journey! It was then back to the hostel for happy hour and it was much more lively, more cool people, more drinking and more card playing!
Not sure how good tonight'll be considering we're both running out of money and have to leave to get our first flight at 6.30am!
