As we approached the end of our time in Canada we wanted to leave with a feeling of accomplishment from our time working at GLC Growers. We spent the last few days working on the barn in an attempt to get it as close to finished as possible.
Since we'd been in Canada we'd cleaned, sanded and painted the barns inner parting barrier; we'd fixed the roof; and we'd helped put up the roof beams. But in the last few days we managed to clean, sand and paint another wall; insulate the whole barn (an unforgiving job with itchy fiberglass); cover insulation with a waterproof and windproof sheeting; added boards to various parts to create a more rigid wall; and used poly filler on various areas of the barn to help improve windproofing.
I (Kieran) was also able to take some time away to look into fixing someone's PC. Although I was unable to fix it as it was far past fixing, I wa able to help advise on a new PC. To be honest I was amazed the 13 year old PC had lasted so long! The new PC gave me a great chance to play with Windows 8 for the first time which I thought was a half way pount between normal Windows and a Tablet.
It was a satisfying last few days ensuring we could come away pleased with what we'd achieved. Colleen and Gerry were a lovely couple and I'm pretty sure Abi is already planning a return journey.
We spent our last day with Colleen's humurous brother Barry where Abi lost her running streak on the game Chickenfoot (similar to dominoes) and I had a chance to get on win in.
