Slept a bit later and had another great breakfast at hotel. Went to Jewish Quarter, which is fairly close to hotel and saw Jewish cemetery (tomb stones on top of each other because this was the only burial space allowed for Jews for centuries), four synagogues, and ceremonial hall where burial society prepared bodies for burial. Lots of interesting artifacts and histories and names of 80,000 Jews plus other Jews from others parts of Czech Republic who died in concentration camps.
After Jewish quarter walked to Convent of St. Agnes, large building with long history of being destroyed and rebuilt. Then went to the Lokal restaurant again, good Czech food. It's asparagus time so I had first asparagus dish of the day.
Returned to hotel for short rest and then tried to find Communist Museum, which is closed, apparently because building was sold for new apartment development. Walked to Mucha museum, Czech artist who did art nouveau posters (Sarah Bernhardt, for example). Walked to Weneslaus Square (site of 1989 protests) and stopped for beer. Walked back to hotel and stopped at a few shops. Rested a bit and then tried to go to Icelandic Restaurant, but it's apparently closed -- not such a market for Icelandic food here. Walked back to courtyard near hotel and stopped at restaurant that is featuring an asparagus menu. Had asparagus soup and trout filets on bed of asparagus. Then back to hotel.
