After taking a few trains through Paris and Caen, we reached our destination. A small town called Bayeux, Normandy. Here in Normandy, it rains, a lot!. The beaches are not known for the sunshine, but for how much history that was made along these coastlines. Our first night here was spent walking in the pouring rain to familiarize ourselves with the history and the town itself. Because of the rain, we decided to stay in a hostel last night. We took a tour this afternoon which turned out to be well worth what we paid for. It took us along the coast of Normandy including places like, Arromanches, Gold Beach and Omaha Beach. We also visited the German Batteries, the US cemetery and Point Du Hoc. Each destination was incredibly breathtaking, knowing how many men and women gave their lives to fight for our freedom. The day turned out to be perfect, weather included. We all came to reason and decided to camp out tonight. Could not be a better night for it. Tomorrow, Paris!

Ashley M I went to Normandy when I was was in Europe and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. I went on a "war tour" of Europe and saw some amazing battlefields and learned SO so much Canadian history. If you haven't planned it, and you have time on your trip, you should really check out Vimy Ridge. It is absolutely amazing. Enjoy the rest of your travels! xo
