We are soaking up the sun, strolling all over Copenhagen's inner city areas, hanging out with the locals on the water front & feeling very relaxed in this chilled out place! Lots of friendly young people around who seem very happy (maybe it's the summer weather). Copenhagen is stunning, a real mix of different places, a little bit of Venice with canals, Dubai with apartments half finished, Sydney on the harbour. The mix of the old & the new works well with the buildings & there are some very clever architectural triumphs here.
There are many people out & about however the pavements aren't cluttered because most ride bikes in the designated bike lanes which are everywhere. The language is totally foreign to us & very difficult to understand any of it however they all speak fluent English. It is very expensive here & unfortunately we had trouble getting accommodation due to booking so late so couldn't get an apartment which would have been better as eating out probably close to double what we pay at home!!
Transport is easy & efficient as it was in Austria.
Yesterday we went to Sweden for the day, 20 mins by train across the bridge pictured & we were in a different country with a different language. We spent the day in Malmo, which was quiet due to it being a Sunday. We again found the water front & relaxed in the sun with the locals who bare their bodies to the sun. Their language is even more foreign however again they speak fluent English. A lovely day in Sweden!
Today we visited the Palace museum to learn about the royal history which was very interesting. Rooms were set up in the museum as they had been when previous Kings reigned. Wandered across the river & climbed the church spiral in the photos, 395 steps, some we could barely fit our feet on. The views were worth the fear factor whilst climbing.
Saturday we went to Rosenburg park which was full of locals enjoying picnics. At the end of the park of course there is an amazing castle to gaze at which is in the pictures.
Tomorrow we plan to call by the Denmark design museum which should be interesting.
