second time writing this as computer turned itself off.....very frustrating
...basically said that writing this now as don´t think i´ll be able to get on agaion with enough time for another week or two.
since leaving arequipa headed up into the mounatins and went to chivay springs, didn´t go in though as had already done them at papallacta and it absolutely stunk of sulphur, and didn´t want wet hair as bush camping. then yesterday got up at half 5 for drive to colca canyon at 6. deepest canyon in the world, confused with the grand canyon, but harder to grasp a concept of as the road is half way up the canyon unlike the grand canyon. saw a coupld of condors which was pretty cool.
after lunch we then had a bumpy 6 hour drive to puno which is where i am now. but coldest we´ve been on the truck so far, driving throught wind, rain, sleet and then snow. bit of a change to the sun burn i´d got in the canyon in the morning.
went for pizza last night which was gorgeous apart from luca fainting, a little bit scary and funny how adrenalin and first aid kicks into action!
went for a wander this mornign, then had a massive thunder storm so headed back to the hotel for a bit then we all went on the internet to try and sort out hostals and sambadrome tickets for the rio carnival. hostals work out to be more esxpensive than the places we´re normally staying but still less than 200 quid for the week! and sambadrome tickets is cheapest of the best located seats at just over a hundred quid, which for the expreience i´m sure will be worth every penny, cna´t wait!
up at half 5 tomorrow for boat trip to the uros islands on lake titicaca, then a 10 hour drive on friday to cuzco, where we spend the day on saturday, then go to the sacred valley on sunday before starting the inca trail on monday, which is 3 days hard core trekking in rain and at altitude...which everyone seems to be suffering, then get to machu pichu on the 4th day. one more night in cuzco on the thursday before driving around the outside of lake titicaca to copacabana! and from then on i can´t tell you a thing!
in bolivia for just over a week i believe and get into salta, argentina on 10th december, where apparently it´s 25 degrees...holding out for that as back in numerous layers and hat scarf and gloves now!
so probably be in bolivia when i next get to write
hope everyone is well, any gossip...fill me in!
speak soon
