Elisa Congrats on going to Amsterdam. Great place. OK, to be more helpful on pniackg information, we'd need to know how long you'll be gone. Personally, if I was going for two or three weeks at this time of the year with only a backpack, I'd pack four of everything; pants, socks, underwear, and long sleeved shirts. Two t-shirts, two sweaters, decent walking shoes that look nice enough for a mid-range restaurant and a rainproof jacket. You'd wear one pair of pants/socks/shirt/sweater/etc. on the plane and have the rest in your backpack. Do laundry when the clothes get too funky.As for essentials, all I consider essential is a camera, passport, and ATM card. You're going to Europe, not Mars. Anything you need or forget will be within easy reach. Take any medications that you'll need, but don't go pniackg huge bottles of shampoo or whatever.In terms of confirming your flight, as long as you have your ticket you don't need to confirm. I've *never* confirmed a flight to/from Europe, which is NOT to say that you shouldn't; just that they won't cancel your flight if you don't confirm. If you'd feel better about it, go ahead and call up the airline 1 day before your scheduled departure. They'll be happy to reconfirm. Oh, and if you bought your plane ticket with a credit card remember to bring that exact credit card with you.And for getting from Amsterdam > UK, check out EasyJet (www.easyjet.com) or any of the other low-cost airlines. Bharati You have a wonderful web site, and all your dogs are so very beatiuful. I particularly enjoyed your article about Being an individual , our lovely girl, Penny is nine months old and so nervous of everything, people ask me if she was a rescue dog, despite the fact that we have spent a lot of time socialising her from 8 weeks old. It's hard when you know she is so great and other people see her as having problems . Your words have made me see Penny's issues in a completely different light, because it is just her nature', and we love her so dearly regardless. My husband and I are considering another puppy, but are thinking in the future when Penny is older, and despite the distance, would certainly love one of your puppies, if accepted. I love all things labrador, but your site and knowledge is a cut above. Thanks so much.I also read your tribute to your Jade, which made me shed yet more tears for our old girl who died last July, it was very moving.

Amin And one more note: I don't like the idea of strengthening the irianmotfon about number of unread posts. Too much accent on those numbers spoiled fun in google reader (perpetual feeling I am thousands posts behind), don't repeat the mistake.

Sandra 1. Yes, it's VERY expensive. Food, in pclaiaurtr, will shock you if you're coming from the US. A meal at a TGI Friday's type place will run about $50 per person, if that gives you an idea.Outside of Japan, Norway is one of the most expensive places in the world.2. Is Oslo, there are a few shopping malls, but you want to focus more on simply exploring the city. It's not a large city, so start at Radhusplassen (sp?) and work you way from there. Bryggen is an obvious shopping location.3. Akershus, Radhuss, Royal Palace are commonly seen landmarks. Plan on spending time at Bogdoy island, seeing the various museums there. I recommend getting an Olso Card, which lets you get into most places for free (once you buy the card) and gives you free transportation.If you can, you should leave Oslo, perhaps for a day. Take a fjord cruise or travel inland or north. I went to Bergen, on the other coast, and the trip there was well worth it.Olso, in the end, is a small European city. It's nice, but the real beauty of Norway is elsewhere.
