I am sure the temperature dropped below zero lastnight - it was bitterly cold but luckily i was able to grab some extra blankets from the spare bed in my room. Today my new friend Louisa and I are off to Isla Del Sol the famous Inka site where the Inkas believed the sun was born. I was up early and hoping to find some Internet but after walking around the whole town I realized I was out of luck. I managed to leave one of my bags at the Hospedaje I was staying at - which will save my back a ton as we have a 3-4 hour hike infront of us today. The plan is still to spend 3-4 days on Isla Del Sol then return to Copacabana for atleast 1 more night. We boarded our boat at 8:30am and no suprise they had jam packed it with people and to go with that on the horizon towards the island we could see a massive storm brewing. We met a nice lady from Holland (6th person from Holland I have met in two day) and hoped the storm would pass us, we were about 20 minutes into the journey and the rain started. The rain got really heavy and then the thunder and lightening started, the poor people up top and at the back were getting drenched and unfortunately there was no room undercover for them. The storm kept up for about an hour and half - stopping when we reached the South if the island to let people out. The sun started to peer through the clouds and everyone's moods seemed to pick up. Even though I was undercover I still managed to get quite wet and after 2.5 hours I was thankful to be off the boat and on dry land. There were loads of tourists and a Bolivian guide was explaining in Spanish the best route to take. Luisa and I decided to follow the masses and see where we would end up. The first glimpse at the beach proved quite a sight - incredibly scenic with a few tents and a heap of hippies sitting about. I already felt like this is where I wanted to spend a few days. We followed the crowd up the hill taking in some of the most scenic landscape I have ever seen. We came to a point where we had to buy a ticket to continue along the path to the Inka ruins, at this point we met Lina a Swedish girl who was travelling alone and headed the same direction as us. The girls wanted to visit the ruins here in the north and then make the 3 hour trek to the South to catch the 3:30pm boat back to Copa. I was still undecided as the North is the most scenic and I didn't want to have to walk all the way back here tomorrow. We checked out the Inka sites took some photos and continued on, I could already see the girls were rushing as they were worried about missing the boat back from the south. I decided to walk half the way with them and then say my goodbyes. We walked about 4kms and to be honest it was a little tough on the lungs being that we were at 4000+ meters. At halfway we said our goodbyes and with a spring in my step I headed back to the North. It was a really nice walk as all the tourists had gone and it was just me and the mountains and the ocean either side. I made it back to town a few hours later and went about finding a place to stay - there were loads of options but all very basic. I found a nice private room right on the beach and at just $2 a night with my mad bartering skills. I had sussed out a few restaurants and some were quite reasonably priced so it looks like I might eat well tonight aswell. The rest of the afternoon I relaxed at the beach and enjoyed the peace of Isla Del Sol. There really isn't much to do here except do not much and when the sun goes down the temperature drops incredibly quickly. I headed down to the restaurant for dinner only to find the price they gave me was wrong and dinner was 4 x the price I expected, I decided to give the expensive dinner a miss, wondering around I found some Tomatos, carrots and a tin of pâté that would have to suffice for tonight's dinner. The rest of the evening I kept in doors and tried to warm up - something that took me most of the night.
