Well after a few days in Bangkok I was getting restless, I had a choice between going south or going east and i went east. It takes pretty much 12 hours to arrive in Siem Reap from Bangkok. On the way the journey takes in some awesome scenery: for mile after mile, stretching out to the horizon, you can fields of rice, and way in the distance there are mountains. It is hot and humid. The road from the border to Siem Reap is pretty bad. It's barely maintained, and for much of the way a dirt track, though I think some resurfacing work was taking place. The reason for the bad roads is I was told due to the fact that the roads in Cambodia are owned by the National Airline, which obviously has little incentive in investing in the road network. Today I am just taking it easy. I'll visit Angkor Wat tomorrow.
