BULA! (Hello in Fiji, everyone bloody says it) family and friends.
Days 11 - 16 (This is getting really confussing now, because we lost a day going from LA to Fiji, and they say time travel isn't possible!!!)
Well its been a while since we updated you, but without upsetting you all whilst you are all in England with the nights drawing in and Autumn on its way, we have been stuck in paradise.
We arrived at Fiji early on Saturday morning after a bumpy night flight from LA, we had already prebooked a backpackerss lodge on the Island of Mana. After alot of hanging around we finally got a 50min speed boat to the Island, my stomach held out, mainly due to the fact the sea was like a lake. We checked at the Ratu Kini backpackers and stayed in a lovely Bure (similar to a UK beach hut) , with a hammock outside, banana and passion fruit trees were free for the picking, and we were just a few 100 yards from the beach. We were pretty much in with the islands community, and Amy and I were staying next to the local school, which taught no more than 10 kids, we got woken up most mornings by the birds singing and the kids singing hymms, we woke up to 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot', you could help but join in a chorus.
The resort has so much to get involved with, however it is just as easy to b***** all, which is fantastic. The first day Amy and I were shattered from the US, so we spelt straight through to the next day. The next morning we made friends with Joe ad Alison, a couple from Stoke, doing a very similar travel plan as us, so we hung around with them alot.
Now you will have to excuse me but the days kind of blur as we lost track of time and what day it was, but here is a general run down of what we done. Activities were always on, sometimes you would do basket weaving (yes I done it, and it turns out the a basket is more like a handbag, I was the campest man on the island). Amy and I walked around 3/4 of the island, and we also done some snorkling, some of the reef's out here are amazing).
Yesterday we took a boat trip out to an island called sand bank, as you imagine it is just sand with a huge reef surrounding it. Amy and I managed to see some amazing fish and sea creature including a sting ray, Amy went further and saw a shark (don't worry mum's and Dad's it was only a small one, she could have easily had it!)and turtle. I on the otherhand again managed to survive yet another boat trip.
We extended our stay on the island another night, done some more walking, snorkling etc, and return to the main land today, where we are planning on two nights here before we get a flight to New Zealand.
Anyway must dash as internet has literally 1minute left. Love to you all. We are off to sit on a hammock!!!
