Saturday began with a run, which Thom timed: 30 minutes only! It turned out that our last run was about an hour!! We put an extra layer on, which was too much in the fog of the morning, as it held in the heat and humidity. We made it to breakfast in plenty of time and Thom went to his 10:00 conference. Julie met him around 11:30 with a cappuccino from Starbucks and we spent the rest of the session together, as it was about a landmark case at Chestnut Lodge. Thom got up to comment and truly added to the dialogue--proud of him :)
We walked along Rue Rene Levesque and found a number of restaurants which were closed for lunch. We made it to Rue Laurant (finally) which Thom called the red light district due to the number of sex-oriented shops and theaters around. We found a nice cafe for lunch, Cafe Republic, where Julie had a chicken salad and Thom had onion soup and a vegetable crepe. We circled back to the Sheraton, so Thom could catch his 2:00 class. Julie relaxed at the B&B (aka napped) then met Thom in time to walk to church. Mass was at 5:00 and totally in French! Good cultural experience--we joined the geriatric population of Montreal...
Evening was another walk down Rue Rene Levesque, then down Rue Bleury until we reached Rue Saint Paul, where we realized all of the restaurants and antiquity was hiding! We went to a more reasonably priced restaurant, Le Bourlingueur, where we each got a Kir Casse (Royale was out). Julie got vegetarian couscous with apricot and pumpkin and Thom got cod. Dessert was interesting--Julie got a baked apple and Thom got orange cake. We packed when we returned to the B&B and prepared for a morning departure.
