Singapore Overcast and rainy!
We docked in the container dock, so had a poor outlook when we woke up! We took the free shuttle to Orchard Road, the main shopping district, but decided not to stay and got a taxi to Changi Prison Museum. This prison was used in the 2nd World War by the Japanese and imprisoned many Chinese, Australians, Europeans, well just about anyone in Singapore at that time who wasn't Japanese! It was a very humbling experience and I came away feeling quite sad. Many local people helped the prisoners, by smuggling them food and clothing and have since been awarded medals.
Afterwards we went on a very scarey glass cable car!! We went to Mount Faber and then over to Sentosa Island. It took a while for me to feel 'safe' and to relax and enjoy the ride. Phil was excited to see a Formula 1 race car; Singapore's first race is in September this year.
Tonight we sail up the coast just a bit to Kuala Lumpor, unfortunately another place we've already visited, only Bangkok was new to us in the Far East. No matter, it's all exciting.
