Day 16 Acapulco
Very impressive sailing into the bay of Acapulco although slightly misty. That soon cleared and we started to walk into town. As it's Mexico you expect beggars and taxi hustlers but I didn't think there would be so many! By beggars, I mean whole families including a tiny tot who couldn't have been any older than three; strange thing was they looked fairly well cared for and nicely dressed!
We didn't stay out long, although temperature was about 28 degs, or 82, it felt like 180 and my ankles are still up.Someone said I must be pregnant; I'm in sympathy with Helen (don't have the baby yet!)
In the afternoon we took a P & O excursion and reminded Phil not to do it again.Although they're very well organised, we'd rather do things at our pace, which is quick! Anyway, we went to see the famous divers and weren't disappointed, they were amazing. Then we had a tour around the rich and famous area and were shown where Sylvester Stallone had a house.
Back on board for a great sail away waving to the Norwegian Star that had pulled up alongside. All our table were invited to drinks with the technical officers and the Captain joined the men who as usual decided to drink on their own. Captain Paul didn't have his cap on and Mick asked him what did he think the Captain thought of all the incidents that were going on on board the Aurora! He hadn't realised that he was talking to the Captain (he did have four stripes on his shoulders!!! So he's never ever going to live that down!
Next stop San Francisco on Saturday, see you then.
