Greetings from Koh Samui.
I have landed in PARADISE!
Got to Koh Samui on Saturday afternoon and had to pinch myself. I'm staying in the fishing village of Bophut at The Waterfront which is a complete chill out place. The owners are so welcoming, the bungalows fantastic and the view from my room suberb - I look overlook the beach and can see Koh Phangan. It's utter bliss! Have been informed that Denise Van Outen stayed in my bungalow about 2 years ago. Well, my fellow Essex girl chose well!
I didn't do much yesterday, just go adjusted to my new surroundings and home for the next 6 nights. I had a nap on my lovely huge bed which looked so pretty with orchids on I didn't want to spoil it!
Hadn't seen many people around even though the place is meant to be full (there are about 20 bungalows) so I went out for dinner to check out the area. Dinner and wine was delicious - it cost about 8 pounds for 2 courses and 2 glasses of wine! I like it!
Found a trendy looking beach bar on the way back home so popped in for one of my trademark cosmopolitans. It was yummy but cost nearly as much as my dinner. Hmm, won't be going there again!
Decided to have a few drinks at our beach bar in the resort. There was still no one about so in true holiday fashion I ordered a malibu and coke! People slowly started coming out for drinks around 10ish and soon there was a crowd of 10 of us - my new friends for the next few days! We were a mix of aussies, germans and english and all had a great night which finished at 3.30 on Sunday morning! The barman doubles up as the security guard and he was on the beers too. The owner, Robin, also sat with us and gave us a few drinks on the house for being a good crowd - wow, I really am going to like it here!
Woke up at 10am today and felt ok - must be that holiday chilled out feeling that doesn't make you have hangovers! Brekkie is on the house so had lots of fruit and an egg and bacon sarnie!!
Started on my mission for the day - sunbathing! Slapped on the factor 30 and off I went to claim a sunlounger. I was in heaven for about 30 mins but then it started to get a little bit warm!
Most of you will get this on Monday morning when you get to your desks so I hate to rub it in but all I've done all day is sunbathe, have a dip in the pool, eat, sleep, sunbathe....etc! I can see a lot of hate emails coming my way now!!!
Had to call it a day at 2pm when I realised I looked like a lobster. Had another nap and then an icecream. Yeah, this is what backpacking is all about!!!!!
You probably won't hear many blogs from me over the next few days as you can see I have a very busy schedule! I do plan to go on an elephant trek and to cooking school but all in good time my dears. Just off to the pool for one last dip because even at 5pm it's flippin schorching! Pina Colada anyone?!
