Bags to coach 9am.
Needless to say Ty's 'gooood morning' and the tour song 'Feels So Good' got a luke warm reception.
Today was a drive day. Most of the morning was spent sleeping. We were introduced to the wake up song, kindly blasted at top volume 'wake up, wake up, wake up, get up, get up, get up' 'Yo, boys and girls, we're in...' Seligman, the birthplace of Route 66. Quaint and quirky wee place. I bought an ice lolly, eat fast, they melt quick in desert heat. I saw the Roadkill Cafe but refrained from partaking! Got caught in a sandstorm (correction, ate a grit ice lolly)! Saw some freaky s***, some of the bus (Bruce) fell asleep on a bench and then it started raining the biggest rain drops I've ever seen!
A walmart stop for lunch. I bought a sub and fruit, sat on my own in the sunshine in the car park. Most others had fast food.
In the afternoon we played the introductions game. The aisle seat had to move one forward and chat for 5 minutes. Then the pair of you had to stand up in front of the microphone and make introductions, give 3 pieces of information, then tell a joke or an embarrassing story, if you couldn't then you had to answer one of Ty's 81 preprepared questions. Which included 'have you ever had a threesome?' and the likes!?!? We had orchestrated it though and all sat together. So I got Mon. We asked the same three questions; about our travels (Mon has another 8 months of travel to UK, Portugal and Africa); about our perfect men (Mon's deal breakers are shoes, hair and arrogance, mine were needs to be ambitious, funny and look good in a suit) and about our special skills (Mon can speak 3 languages, English, Portuguese and Afrikaans, I have been in musicals). Mon told a funny story falling over in a train station with her backpack on, legs akimbo in a skirt and couldn't get back up. I told the wing, wing, wing duck joke (credit to Mr Myles for this) with Mon as my accomplice. Went down a storm.
We arrived at Williams, it was pissing with rain, but we had been told that there was a high chance of rain, so I had my jacket in my bag. The keys were dished out. We had 10 minutes to get back to bus! Quick change...
We headed another hour to the Grand Canyon. Where we caught our first glimpse at this monster! One of the seven natural wonders of the world!
It was pretty emotional! I don't like the thought of experiencing something so significant without having a significant other to share it with. I stood on my own just appreciating it! I'm not going to try to explain what it was like. No description can do it justice! Go and see it!
We all jumped back on the bus. Headed for the visitor centre and had the most amazing dinner. I had a Caesar salad to start, a burrito and then lemon meringue pie. Yum! We then headed the hour back to Williams.
A pool party then ensued. Drinks were consumed and bikes were joyridden. When we were moved on from the pool, we sat in the courtyard. I got chatting to Ashley and Chantel from Australia and spoke to Josh for ages about music. He was big on DJ'ing, particularly from his bed on a Saturday morning (haha! Sorry Josh!).
Bed was calling at some point after midnight. So I headed ready for our 6.45am departure to the G.C.
