Hey people!
Well our amazing trip to the reef via aeroplane didn't quite go as planned due to the 'light showers' i.e it peed it down ALL day and we mean ALL day, we have photos to prove it! Luckily we got our money back so it was back to the drawing board after a large amount of caffeine! Inspired by the rain we booked a trip to the rainforest (Cape Tribulation) for Friday and bizarrely it hardly rained whilst we were there! We stopped at mossman gorge, which was meant to be a swimming stop but unfortunately it wasn't suitable. Next stop was a small wildlife park, where we saw some cassawary's, kangaroos and crocs! Boy were the crocs big! It was feeding time too so lots of snapping from the evil things! Then we got the 'electric; ferry across the daintree river where we would later go croc spotting! More on that in a bit! Stopped at an amazing viewing point, which overlooked the island where steve irwin died and also where the daintree river meets the ocean. You can also see an island that is a side profile of a croc. pretty cool! Next we did a boardwalk through the rainforest, where we were educated on all species of trees and plants. Even saw a few lizards and crabs! Pretty much what we learnt was that the aboriginies use everything for anything but too much will kill you! We weren't tempted to try any of the items on offer even though we were starving! Next was lunch on the beach, where crocs can often be seen, thankfully there were no encounters! A quick stroll on the beach and yey the sun came out! Post lunch we went for icecream, the blueberry and pineapple were delicious, however the verdict is still out on the black sapote and the wattle seed flavours! Meant to taste like chocolate and coffee, but we didn't taste it! After this, we took a boat ride out on the Daintree river and went croc, bird and snake hunting! We were lucky enough to see a 5 metre croc, a tree snake and some kind of python! Had a quick drive through port douglas which is a very upmarket sea town, in fact bill clinton was here when the twin towers got struck and to get married in their little chapel, theres a 2 year waiting list! Very cute, but no chance to get off and explore! Arrived back in cairns and prepared for our reef trip for the following day..............................................
