Hello!
We are now in Salta in Argentina after lots of driving and camping. Here is the update from our previous one!
Day 7 - went to visit the brazilian side of the iguazu falls for the day, where the butterflies were attracted to marks head which caused much amusement. However despite this new found love for butterflies.. mark did accidently tread on one whilst leaving the park in front of two park wardens. Got soaked walking along the walkway into the falls but well worth a trip!
Day 8 - Day trip to the Argentinian side of the iguazu falls. We were happy to see the almost equivalent of a starbucks when we arrived so before anything got our first caffeine fix. What was supposed to be a sight seeing day felt more like a day of extreme exercise in the heat but we managed to see the falls from every possible angle. We were happy to see these strange animals in the park (cant remember what they were called) but badger like with tails. However we soon realised that these must be the local best as they were stealing peoples lunch of their tables.
Day 9 - Crossed the border again saying goodbye to brazil. headed to san ignacio to visit the jesuit ruins. Stayed at a cool hostel (as the guidebook says) but the swimming pool looked more like the grand union canal. The beer was cheap though. Went to a light show at the ruins which was supposed to educational but we found it more amusing than that and had the giggles throughout. First steak dinner for mark and I am learning to ask for vegetarian food. For those of you who know mark... the steak wasnt as good as the bricklayers!
Day 10/11 - Long old drive across a lot of flat land (12 hours) past a lot of fields full of wild pigs, horses and potential dinner. And that is not the dead donkey we saw lying on the road side. Arrived for our bush camp which was an improvement on the last one but still surrounded by lots of dogs! More driving but not quite as much as across brazil, but then we have to remember that brazil is bigger than europe.
Day 12 - Now at Salta Rafting on a campsite in the middle of no where. However with the river and wild horses as the morning view, who can complain. Started the morning with white water rafting, followed by zip lining across the canyon, the highest being 160m high, 600m long. First one was getting the hang of it but by the last one I flew out the trap like a greyhound. Well done Mark and his phobia of heights!
Day 13 - and here we are in Salta, having a relaxing day and updating this before we hit bolivia tomorrow. Not before a renowned steak house tonight where the steak is 600g of pure beef. Not sure what the vegetarian option is going to be yet... side salad?
Enjoy the photos, not sure what the internet is like in Bolivia so probably wont have as many photos next time!
