My Medical Adventure
Well I have have had a very eventful few days and yes I have also finally got a little bit of sun!!!! Sunday we were on our way to Maracus beach when these guys, who had previously tried to sell us a boat trip pulled up beside us and said they were off to a surf beach as a hurricane was appracohing and the surf was going to be awsome. We were a bit wary at first, but Matt and Togi were with us and they seemed like decent guys (not being racist but they were not black Trinidadians and seemed quite well off!!). We piled into their cars and off we went. The beach was 2 hrs away on the West Coast (Toco beach), the beach was very rustic but the waves were amazing. I was actually quite scared jumping them as the under current was soo strong. I decided to watch the surfing from the safety of the beach instead!!!! We meet Trinidads best surfer, he was amazing and was a proper rasta man with dreadlocks!! apparently he does photo shots for surf magazines !!!
Monday was another beach day, after we finished clinics of course. This time we actually made it to Maracus (the best beach in Trinidad) after a steep climb up the mountains in a maxi we arrived at maracus just in time for the rain !!! shock. It was ok though as we sampled their world famous shark and bake (a bit like a shark burger with salad and mango chutney) yum!!! It did stop raining at times but we past the time in the beautiful clear sea jumping the waves, which weren't quite as scarey as before. Although they did pull you pants down and fill your bikini with sand if you were not too carful!!
Tuesday was a public holiday in Trinidad!! Emancipation day. Yeah day off !!! and the weather was amazing. We spent the morning sitting in marina admiring the boats and drinking wine, my first glass since being away. We then took a boat trip around da islands (5 little islands off Trinidad were rich Trinidadian have holiday homes, oh and on one there is a prison!). It was so beautiful, we sunbathed on the boat, saw dolphins, swimming along side us, the boys caught a tuna fish of the back of the boat and we stopped at one of the locals houses for a lime!! (i.e. drink and hang out) it was very cool!!.
