My Medical Adventure
I have really enjoyed my whistle stop tour of Sydney. We are only here for a week so again we have jam packed our days with all the tourist attractions we could manage. We stayed in Bondi for the first three nights of our trip. I really like it here. The beach is a large expanse of white soft sand, everyone is very stylist and complete fitness freaks. Lots of joggers everywhere, and some very fine bodies!!. The weather was surprisingly warm the first day we arrived so after we did some exploring on foot I retired to the beach for a snooze! Whilst I was there a shark was spotted just off the beach and everyone was evacuated from the water, very exciting, I don't think I will be getting in the sea here. It is only the start of thier spring here so the temperature does drop quite dramitically when the sun goes down and there are some quite chilly winds about, time to get the jumpers out I think!!. On our first night we met up with a friend of Rynns a he took us to a few bars in the town centre. Very nice, although I was a bit of a light weight as hadn't really drunk for a while!! It was so nice being back in a big City again, really reminded me of bars London!.
During our stay here we have exhausted our memory cards taking photos of the Sydney opera house and Sydney Harbour bridge. We also went up the Sydney tower, which gave us amazing views of the whole city!!!, It was so beautiful, we timed it so we were there for sunset, gorgeous!. We have also checked out Bondi market, reminded me of camden, The rocks, similar to covent garden market. Unfortunately I am running low on money so it was just window shopping for me. We visited the Sydney Aquarium, my favourite were the platypus, they were so cute!! The shrak tank was also amazing, you walk through under water tunnels with the sharks swimming above and beside you. I think I enjoyed it even more as I could recognise all the fish we have seen on our dives. The Chinese gardens, built in the city centre are very tranquil and beautiful, with gorgeous scents filling the air. We drank some jasmine tea in the tea house there however the garden views were kind of spoilt by the surrounding sky scrapers!! We have also wondered around Hdye Park (sound familiar) and had a picnic in the Botanical Gardens. Everything is so clean here, it is so nice compared to London and the surrounding water makes the views just amazing.
We couldn't come to Sydney without visitning the Opera house so on Tuesday night we went to see The Tempest. I don't think Matt realy enjoyed it as he left half way through but I thought it was really good. I am feeling very cultured!!. Yesterday we booked a trip up to visit the attractions of the Blue Moutains a 2 hour drive away. They are called the Blue Mountains due to the oils which evaporate off the eucalyptus trees giving the mountains a bluish colour. The trip took us to a wildlife park where we fed wallabies, stroked Koalas and saw all the different native animals of Australia. The was a big salt water crocodile, the Tasmanian Devil (V Ugly), wombats and emu's (the baby ones were v cute). We were then taken to Austalias version of the Grand Canion, the views were breath taking, we also saw the famous rock formation called the three sisters. We then took a very steep cable car down into the valley, went for a bush walk, learning about all the different vegetation and ascended the mountain again in a very very steep railway (the steepest in the world). We went up back wards and my stomach was feeling a bit queesy by the end. apparently the train used to be used to pull the coal up the mountain when the mine was in use!! Our last stop was a quick tour of the Olympic Stadium, it was spectacular, I imagine it wouls have been amazing to have been there. I can't wait until they have them in London!!. I am having a chilled day today as we are all knackered. It was also Anni's last night last night so we went to China town had a 6 pound set meal and drunk a 4l box of wine between the five of us, good going!!! Oh yes and guess what I am doing tomorrow, on our last day, to end the trip on a high!!! A SKY DIVE. From 14,000 ft, I am really excited and yes also terrified!! I will let you know how it goes in my next entry which will be from Thialand!!!
Only a week to go until I'm home!!!!
