Having had brekkie at Adabco we waited for our taxi to the airport. It was slow, but so too was the traffic crawling passed our hotel.
We checked in at the airport and I was relieved that my bag squeaked through with 400g over the weight allowance. The flight from Adelaide to Alice was good, although there was a good wiggle on landing which got some good noises from a few people! Throughout the journey the clouds had gradually built and built, so at Alice there was good cloud to bounce through. At some point in the journey I finished my book, The Night Circus, which was fab, and handed it on to Lesley to read it next.
We were pleasantly surprised at the airport which provided us with some dips and Turkish bread, washed down with a bottle if Fat Yak for me and wine for Donks.
The flight from Alice to Uluru would have been more impressive if Id had a window seat. My view was blocked by the hat and iPad of an American lady, who was accompanied by her dry witted husband. I caught a brief glimpse of Uluru, but the cloud limited visibility.
A short coach transfer found me at Emu Walk Apartments reception. Lesley had gone all posh on us and had chosen to book herald into the up market Sails in the desert hotel. I headed to apartment 229 where I met Tracy, a friend of mine from dental school. It was the first time we met in over 10 years and it was so good to see her. We drank tea and caught up!
Later we had a potter around and met Donks for a lovely meal at the Gecko cafe in the town square. We were all very tired from travelling so settled in for an early night.
