Weds 14th Jan - Little bit of a rush in the morn to have brek and check out before jet skiing along Noosa River. Ah it was so much fun! Til had some some before but I had always wanted to go. We met Dale our river guide and he fitted us with headsets and life jackets and we set off following his ski along the river. It was so much fun and they're so easy to use. We stopped in a quiet part where we could do some freestyling so we both enjoyed going as fast as we could, doing 360degree turns and generally messing about. Brilliant. We joined the Oz bus heading for Rainbow Beach and bumped into Gemma again and met some lovely lads Seb, Tom, Scott and James. Upon arriving Til and I played a bit of table tennis and munched on a cheese toasie before our Fraser Island self drive briefing. There was so much to remember, what were we letting ourselves in for?! Our group was brill though, we were really chuffed and we went to IGA to do our food shopping. Only $22 each, bargain. We made some dinner, stayed up chatting then went to bed for a tiring couple of days ahead of us...
Thurs 15th Jan - Fraser Island! We were late leaving because the previous groups had bust their engine so we took time to read the small print for what we were and werent covered for..we were b*****ed if we were gona shell out 4 an a half grand like the other groups had! There was a bit of faffing loading and checking the car over but we caught the ferry over to Fraser and set off on our journey. Treating the beach like a road was bizarre and we had our lives in the hands of the lovely Tom. We took a bumpy gravel track to get to the eastern beach and set off up to Indian Heads right at the top. We stopped at Eli Creek, and passed the Maheno shipwreck which was cool. Because we had left late we didn't have time to climb Indian Head, little annoying but we took photos and went to set up camp. What a team - tents up and pasta cooking all before dark. We all sat underneath the canopy and chatted and drank and played games. James had made a beer bong in America called Frank so a few had a go at Frank. Bed around midnight.
Fri 16th Jan - Early rise at 6.3am to pack everything up and get on the road before the sea swallowed us up. Back to Eurong to go inland to Lake Mckenzie but got stuck in the soft sand and had to wait for the mechanic to look over Dodgy Daisy. Whilst we waited we had a game of cricket on the beach then Seb navigated his way on the bumpy windy track to the lake. It was so beautiful, crystal clear water and gorgeous white sands. We played throw and catch, swam and generally messed about before leaving for Central Station for a yummy bbq. The boys cooked and the ladies prepped and we all stuffed our faces then went to set up camp for the second night. The sound of the rainforest was immense, it drowned out the music from the car! We ran out of water so a group of us walked to Eurong in the dark and two dingoes came really close, it was quite scary but we made it there in one piece then walked close to the sea on the way back in a long line singing songs. We stayed up late into the night chatting and drinking whilst dingoes came sniffing around and even stole someones bag!
Sat 17th Jan - Another early start to match the tides. We packed up the tents and had a fry up for brekkie. Then hit the road for Lake Wabby and walked 45 mins through the rainforest to the gorgeous green waters, trees on one side, sand dunes on the other. Everyone was baking so jumped in straight away. Fish were swimming around our feet and would occasionally nip you. I got a little breezy so climed to the top of the dune for a phenomenal view. We all fell asleep sunbathing then made the walk back to the car to get the ferry back to Rainbow. We made it back sweaty dirty and unshowered for three days but unscathed and were told well done for the state of Daisy and were let off with no charges yay! We had a meal of the leftover food from the trip, said our goodbyes to those we wouldn't see again and got an early night.
