We made it! Bev had a minor problem and became a US Customs detainee at the Calgary airport. An officer started walking through the crowd with a radiation detector. He was standing behind us and tapped Bev on the shoulder and said Come with me! Away she went to the holding area. Jessica and I continued thru the area and security all the while wondering what was going to happen to Bev. Bev was not surprised by this turn of events as she had just had a radiation treatment for Thyroid disease and had been warned by the doctor! Jessica and I made it to the gate and Bev showed up 10min later.
We rented a car and ended up with a KIA Soul! It is a really nice little car. Driving is OK, no crazy people far. It is freaky to turn a corner and see only sky as the hill is so steep. I am a little nervous! Of course there is construction on the corner of our street which made finding the apt a little difficult. We have a tiny garage..I only got the car in with a spotter and could barely open the door to get out. You can get a parking ticket in SF if you don't turn your tires to the curb.
Our apt is very nice, just like the online photos. We are on the edge of Nob Hill, close to China town. We are a little lost and can't seem to get our bearings. We walked around the neighborhood but ended up in Chinatown. We tried to buy a carton of milk, which was in the display case but the Chinese ladies started pointing at the milk. We figured out the milk was not for sale.
We went to a play at a small theater (like the actor's studio). It was a musical about shopping and was very funny. We parked in a garage downtown, $3 for 15 mins! There were attendants who parked your car for you.
Well, off to the discount mall!
