It was still raining when we awoke so we were slow to mobilise however when we did the rain was quite light. After breakfast we set off, in a refreshing light drizzle, to our next camp. We were supposed to walk to the fly camp today but because they couldn't get a ranger we had to postpone and went later in the day instead. Instead we headed off for a game drive and went to see if we could find the dogs but as we were later out they had already moved off. We set off to find the dogs again - it's so rare to have wild dogs in the area and be able to spend quality time with them. We found them walking across the plain - even closer to camp- they were clearly in hunting mood. We are now into the routine of a pre dawn departure and headed off looking for the wild dogs. They were definitely moving towards camp; we spotted them moving across a plain towards us only about forty five minutes from camp as we were heading to where we left them last night. We stayed with them while they hunted but they were unsuccessful - we didn't think they failed - albeit we know that only 70% of wild dog hunts are successful. We wondered if their hear...

We enjoyed our tea at 0530 and we're off in the chill of the morning to see if we could see a striped hyena return from her night scavenging. No luck so instead we searched for the wild dogs from last night - again they eluded us.
