The day started with tea at 6.00am followed by breakfast and a final walk as we are off to the Serian camp in the Masai Mara national park today and walking is not allowed.
Fresh buffalo poo meant an early lookout for another lone male buffalo who thankfully we didn't spot until our return leg when we saw him in the distance and too far away to require a course deviation. Next we saw hippos who were still grazing and slowly making their way back to the safety of the river - we gave them a wide berth and then safely watched the plains game - wildebeest, impala, Thompson's gazelles interspersed with baboons and warthogs. The highlight as we turned for the homeward leg was a herd of topi with six or so new calves and the first of the season - they were still a bit wobbly so we guessed they were born overnight as we hadn't seen them yesterday.
Back in camp we showered, packed, relaxed, had lunch, said our goodbyes to Sam, our guide for four days, and our excellent hosts Emily and Fraser. They are setting out on their management careers and are still learning the trials and tribulations of dealing with difficult guests ( a couple left this morning who will not be their last in this category) but if they keep their positive outlook and do their best their talent will undoubtedly shine through
